Just for fun

Our little bubble-head had his surgery yesterday. He did great! (And so did mommy!!) We arrived at 11:15, checked him in and took care of insurance. Shortly after, they called us back and took his vitals and sent us back out to the waiting area. Then, we got called back again to meet with the anasthesiologist, the doctor, and the nurse. They took him at about 12:50 and the doctor came out around 1:40. He immediately woke up in recovery and was ready to eat before they could get us back there. He finished 4 ounces of pedialyte before we got back there. Since that wasn't satisfying him, they said we could go ahead and try formula, but he fell asleep before we could get it ready. We were home by 4:00. Between 4:00pm and 7:00am, a time when he would normally eat about 6-12 ounces of formula, he had 33-40ounces....we lost count. The poor baby was starving!! He was somewhat fussy and tired last night, but today woke up all smiles and is already back to his normal self. Thank God for a successful and quick surgery!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

We enjoyed deocrating our patio for the first time this year. Kyle helped to carve three pumpkins and we tortured Jesse with pumpkin pictures. I am posting some of his pumpkin pictures and some pictures from a "Pumpkin Slaughter" (pumpkin carving party) that we went to with The Vazquez clan. Enjoy the pics!!

Nothing New

There's not much going on around here. We evacuated for the hurricane. Jesse did pretty good on the 10 hour drive up there. He only cried for about an hour total. On the way back was a different story. He threw up three times in the car on the way to my sister-in-laws. We later found out he had thrush. But, he was a trooper, as he has been. Jesse's hernia surgery is scheduled for the 29th of October. He has been visiting daycare and giving mommy a break. Jesse is still not sleeping through the night, but is doing better. I've put some pictures up. I hope you enjoy. Some milestones...Jesse started cooing during our "hurrication." He's been smiling and giving us a little giggle, but just Sunday night, he started laughing out loud. Kyle said he can isolate the clip and hopefully I can put it on here. Jesse has also figured out how to roll over from his belly to his back. We haven't seen it though. We put him to sleep on his belly. He wakes up, we come to get him, he's on his back. He's a slick one.

The first doctor's appt...

Yes, we take the camera everywhere and we have lots of pictures. So, here are some pics of Jesse's first doctor's appt. They weighed him, measured his length and his head. Dr. Thint checked him out and found out that he may have a hernia or a hydrocele. We have a consult

with a surgeon on the 19th. Today, he had his 2 week appt. and Dr. Thint said it looked a lot better, but to keep our consult, just to be safe. And, just for entertainment, there's a picture of Jesse holding his own bottle. It was short-lived, but has occured more than once.

HE'S HERE!!!!

So, you can expect every blog from here on out to be about our angel. Jesse Douglas Chambers arrived on August 2, 2008. He came into the world weighing 7lbs 11.5 oz and measuring 20.5 inches long...okay, the hospital measured him at 21.5, the doctor measured him at 20.5. We're going to go with the doctor's measurements since that's what will be using from here on out. He had his 2 week appt. today and he had gained 4 ounces and grown half an inch. He stays awake for longer stretches and finally enjoys his swing and playmat...giving mommy time to....do whatever.

As most of you know, we had a slight scare when he was born. He swallowed a lot of fluid and his meconium, so he was taken straight

to Texas Children's and put on oxygen and had a tube to drain fluids and an IV for antibiotics and feeding. He quickly improved and was off everything in about 2 days. He is now a healthy baby boy. We adore everything about him!!

The two pictures above are the first time we each got to hold him....an undescribable moment. Then, the sweetest picture is where he's laying on his quilt sleeping. Of course, the one in the
hospital with all the wires. And, then, he finally gets to go home. Stay tuned for more pictures, there will be tons......

San Antonio-July 4th 2008

For a last hoo-rah before the baby comes, we decided to go to San Antonio for the 4th of July weekend. This was only made possible by the fact that Kyle has a great new job that is M-F. He is off weekends and gets home around 4:30-5:30 every day. Fabulous!! Since the 4th of July is Dar's birthday, we invited him along. We went to Sea World on the 4th. It would have been great, except it
kept raining off and on all day long. We got to see a few shows and Kyle and Dar rode a couple of rides. The fireworks and BBQ in the evening were really nice. Getting out of the parking lot, not so much. We waited over an hour and a half to get out!! Finally, we made it to the hotel. We had reserved a suite. It had a great view, but two double beds in the bedroom instead of one king. The next morning, we went to the Alamo and met Tina and Shannon there. I had asked the front desk for directions to Artisan's Alley, something different to do. Kyle and his dad went to Buckhorn Museum while Tina, Shannon and I followed the hotel directions to Artisan's Alley. Those directions led us to an artist frame shop. Yes, 20 miles out of the way, for nothing. Then, we attempted Market Square, paid $5 for parking. It started raining and since it's an outdoor flea market type of thing, that didn't work. So, we went and met the guys for lunch. After a rest at the hotel, Kyle and I went down to the Riverwalk and did the Riverboat Tour. Then, Kyle and I got a couple's massage at the spa at the top of the hotel. I nice little vacation for the end of the pregnancy.
Cool picture of the Steel Eel with clouds behind it.
Kyle and Dar on the grassy knoll where we at BBQ and watched the fireworks.
That's what a big, fat pregnant woman looks like after being rained on all day and her husband spilling chocolate ice cream on her white tank top.
